Acupuncture is just one modality within the holistic system of Chinese medicine.  Due to an emphasis on the energetic anatomy of the body, Chinese medicine can address concerns in a way that other models may overlook.  

Though it has been developing and practiced over the past several thousands of years, acupuncture's exposure to mainstream culture in the United States is relatively recent (the past 50-60 years). It involves the use of near hair-thin needles, along with other appropriate methods, to stimulate specific points and zones around the body, assisting a person towards a state of equilibrium.

​Because each individual is unique, tailored questions paired with other diagnostic measures like pulse reading and observation will guide the practitioner towards an appropriate treatment plan.  

Due to the holistic nature of Chinese medicine, this push towards equilibrium can often result in reduced symptoms of pain and dysfunction and yield increase in physical, mental and emotional wellbeing.  It commonly induces sensations of relaxation, euphoria and clarity.
